tuesday tidbit - the sponge

Print Friendly and PDF

Somewhere, somehow, you've heard about the unmentionables that can be found on the kitchen sponge. Ewwww, right? Well, somewhere once upon a time, I saw a blogger who had a fantastic idea to combat all those germs. I wish I could give credit, but it was years ago so I just don't remember. But wherever she is, we all say a big "thank you!"

Get out a brand new sponge. Put the old one in the dishwasher. But it doesn't end there. Oh, no. When you empty the dishwasher, trade out the newly sanitized sponge, stick it in your sponge basket or what-have-you, and put that brand new one in the dishwasher. Did you follow that? So you'll always have one in your dishwasher and one for the sink & counters. Then, that thing you're using to clean your wine glass isn't more than one dishwasher cycle away from having been sanitized.

And all the OCD people said "Amen." And the rest of us did, too.
